Alice in Chains was my all time favourit3 band... but listening to this makes me think was not the perfect suite for Layne. A less metal, more lo-fi sound is a better fit and makes his voice really come out in all his colours. No surpruse sap and jar of flies were at the same level of Alice Long playing

I keep reading comments on Layne ena Mike Mc Ready, but half of this song (and the whole record) sits on the shoulders of a very jazzy rhythm section.

He's singing about his own death. He's literally talking to and about himself. He's knows how it's going to end. Eventually. I write about my own death sometimes. I just write a lot of things. I always say I'm not living, I'm just alive. Somehow I think it's worse. It guts me because its so similar, I physically feel the lump in my throat and heaviness in my chest trying to not cry or flare my nostrils and try and breath right to keep it all in. Its hard to explain. I dont even know who I'm talking to when I'm bartering or praying to for just a little help. A break in something. Just a little piece of "ok". It doesn't come. Wish him and so many others could have gotten that little bit of peace without begging to something that isnt even there or listening.
